Birth and development of a field literary in the minority language: the case of the Corsica
Keywords:
vernacular language, diglossia.Abstract
Between the late nineteenth century and the Second World War, starts the process development3 of the corsican language. This is done through the establishment of a literary field4 in vernacular language, which will arise from regular new genres (poetry
scholarly, drama, novel, political literature…). This literature appears clearly as a tool to defend corsican language and identity. The transition to writing here is accompanied by a will — clearly formulated — to “establish” the language.Through this study, it will
show — thanks to the concept of “field” — that the literary space in corsican language has been designed and used as a means to fight the diglossic situation.
