Abstract

Are we plural or are we singular?
Before answering this question, you should consult Larousse. ‘‘Plural’’ refers
to multiple and ‘‘singular’’ refers to abnormal, bizarre… So rather multiple
or rather weird?
In the front cover of the pluriel man, of Bernard Lahire, it is written : ‘‘We are all holders of a plurality of layouts, ways of seeing, feeling and acting.’’ In our article, we will try to implement this plurality in languages and cultures. The aim is to show that it can only be beneficial for learning foreign languages and it can only facilitate the access to these languages. Knowing that in Algeria the teaching of foreign languages, including French, is subject to much controversies. Teaching the language and the culture, is it the cure for this problematic situation?
