Abstract

Language use in the new forms of written communication (NFCE) in Algeria is under investigation in this article. SMS, e-mails, instant messages (MI) and social networking services (SRS) are the four kinds of NFCE. The research aims to achieve two main objectives. The first objective is to analyze the use of language in texts of NFCE compared to the formal and informal use of the standard language. The second objective is to identify the similarities and differences among different kinds of NFCE in terms of language use for each type.
