Abstract

The weight of history and the contacts between different civilizations,
cultures and languages that have marked Algeria in the shaping of the landscape
sociolinguistics is important to better understand the place and role of the
variation in Algerian society. It is characterized by practices
plurilinguals, resulting from blends surviving to the present day and whose effects
are perceptible in the language practices marked by many
linguistic phenomena like code-switching, borrowing, coding
mixing.
Our communication will focus on the one hand, on the place of French in contact
of the other languages in order to grasp the role of variation as a factor of
facilitation of communication, cohesion in exchanges and
the intercomprehension. On the other hand, it will be a question of wondering if the use
of variation can, in certain contexts, complicate exchanges and
constitute an obstacle to the proper functioning of communication not
only at the school and university level but also in settings
socio-economic and professional. We will refer to the concepts of
simplification/facilitation and complexification as defined by J.-
L. ALBER and B. PY without however extending their meaning to the analysis of
grammatical processes that underpin their functioning.
